What is a patch?

Definition:- A patch is a small piece of software that is used to correct a problem with a software program or an operating system. Patches are often called \"fixes.\" Service packs usually contain many different patches. Most major software companies will periodically release patches, usually downloadable from the Internet, that correct very specific problems in their software programs. Microsoft typically releases their security related patches once per month on Patch Tuesday.

DirectX 9.0c (June 2010 release)

Description:

DirectX 9.0c will help improve multimedia experiences on most PCs. This latest version of DirectX offers better security, updated graphics, faster frame rates, and support for massively multiplayer games. It also features more immersive audio when running and displaying programs rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3-D animation and surround sound. If you had an earlier version of DirectX installed on your system, you will see little difference in available space on your hard drive following the installation. DirectX 9.0c will overwrite any earlier versions. This release also resolves a number of minor bugs and includes security updates.

    Description:

    This DirectX 8.1 download is for Windows 98/Me. It is the highest release of DirectX that will run on Windows 98 or Windows Me (later versions such as DirectX 9 will NOT run on these versions of Windows). Windows 2000/XP/Vista users should get the later release here.

    After installation, the DirectX 8.1 run time cannot be uninstalled. DirectX is a system component. It cannot be uninstalled without reinstalling your operating system (!).
